Gisagara Hosts 4th Phase of National Sitting Volleyball Tournament Sponsored by SGF
From 14 to 15 February 2026, the Gisagara Gymnase proudly hosted the fourth phase of the National Sitting Volleyball Tournament, organized by the Rwanda Paralympic Committee (NPC) in partnership with the Special Guarantee Fund (SGF).
The tournament promotes sports participation among people with disabilities, while fostering social inclusion, improving health, and supporting economic empowerment.
Dominique Bizimana, Chairperson of the Rwanda Paralympic Committee, addressed participants and guests, highlighting that the competition is not only for entertainment but also aims to encourage people with disabilities who are not yet involved in sports to participate. He noted that sports play a vital role in improving physical and mental well-being, building social connections, and creating opportunities that reduce isolation.
Representing SGF, Munezero Emmanuel praised the smooth organization of the tournament and introduced participants to SGF’s services, including compensation for victims of road accidents and damages caused by wild animals. He also engaged athletes in an interactive session on corruption prevention, after which SGF-branded gifts were awarded to those who successfully answered the questions.
The fourth phase brought together 24 teams with 17 men’s teams and 7 women’s teams from 21 districts across Rwanda, demonstrating the growing national interest in sitting volleyball.
Organizers confirmed that the next phase of the tournament will take place in March 2026, continuing efforts to promote inclusive sports nationwide.
