SGF Participates in Phase One of the 2026–2027 National Sitting Volleyball Championship

The Special Guarantee Fund (SGF) participated in the first phase of the 2026–2027 National Sitting Volleyball Championship, held on 10–11 October 2026 at the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus.

Representing SGF, Mrs. Rose Uwamariya thanked the organizers and participants for their professionalism, courage, determination, and commitment to inclusive sports. She highlighted SGF’s mission of compensating eligible victims of road traffic accidents caused by uninsured or unidentified vehicles, as well as victims of wild-animal attacks in designated circumstances.

She reaffirmed SGF’s commitment to supporting people with disabilities and strengthening its partnership with the National Paralympic Committee of Rwanda (NPC) through sports and other collaborative initiatives. She also urged participants to observe road safety measures to help prevent road traffic accidents and protect lives.

The Chairperson of NPC, Mr. Dominique Bizimana, thanked SGF for its continued support, noting that the partnership enables the committee to implement planned activities and improve the well-being of people with disabilities. He added that sporting events provide participants with opportunities for recreation, social interaction, and experience sharing.

During the event, participants took the opportunity to ask questions about SGF’s mandate and compensation procedures. They sought clarification on the requirements for receiving compensation when involved in accidents caused by uninsured or unidentified vehicles, including whether one must own shares in SGF to qualify for compensation. SGF representatives addressed the questions and provided the necessary information, helping participants better understand the Fund’s services and eligibility requirements.

The championship brought together men’s and women’s teams from different districts and institutions across Rwanda. The competition showcased the athletes’ skills, determination, and commitment while promoting inclusion and equal opportunities through sport.
